Sporting sit in 4th place in the Primeira Liga and they’ve lost just once in their last six matches overall, which was a 4-2 loss at home to Benfica, but otherwise, the visitors have been generally in pretty steady form as they’ve picked up points on a regular basis and hold a four point cushion ahead of 5th placed Moreirense ahead of their trip to Maritimo on Monday night.
Recent wins against the aforementioned Moreirense as well as back-to-back victories over Feirense and Sporting Braga have maintained Sporting’s course towards a Europa league qualifying spot which realistically remains their best chance of European football next season.
