Just when it seemed that Brisbane Roar looked to be on course to end their miserable six-game streak without a win, where they held a 2-0 lead against the A-League leaders Perth Glory, the Roar blew it again by conceding four goals in the last half an hour to make it seven matches without a win.
This kind of defeat can be particularly demoralising as they held all three points in their grasp but instead they slumped to a sixth defeat in seven matches which has left Darren Davies’ side second from bottom on the A-League ladder and some 9 points adrift of the top six.
It’ll be interesting therefore to see how Brisbane Roar respond in Melbourne on Friday night, but with an away record of 0-2-5 8/16 and still in search of their first away win of the season, the odds look stacked against the visitors to get anything out of their trip to AAMI Park.
Leading goalscorer Adam Taggart (9 goals) represents Brisbane’s one glimmer of hope here, but he has a hell of a job on his hands as the defence have shipped 2 goals or more in all 7 of their away matches to date.
