Middlesbrough Prediction

Middlesbrough sit just outside of the play-off pack in 7th place and just one point adrift of 6th placed Bristol City ahead of their clash with Stoke City on Good Friday, and although Boro suffered a miserable six-match losing streak recently, Tony Pulis’s side have since bounced back with back-to-back wins in the Championship.

Recent wins against relegation candidates, Bolton Wanderers (2-0 away from home) and a 1-0 home win against Hull City have seen Middlesbrough revive their fortunes as they seek a top six finish, and they’ll head into this encounter looking to capture a third league win on the trot here.

Middlesbrough’s home record has taken a dent in recent weeks as they’s suffered four defeats on the trot at home to Brentford, Preston North End, Norwich City and Bristol City, but they did manage a win last time out on home soil which has improved their record to 8-6-7 20/16.

One thing in Middlesbrough’s favour though is their usually solid defensive unit which has managed to keep 10 clean sheets to date at the Riverside Stadium, and they’ll be up against a Stoke City outfit who aren’t renowned for their goalscoring exploits away from home.

Key-Facts – Middlesbrough v Stoke City

  • Middlesbrough have kept 10 clean sheets to date at home in the Championship
  • Stoke City have drawn 12 of their 21 away matches to date
  • Stoke have managed just 1 win from their last 13 away matches

Stoke City Prediction

Stoke City continue to flounder in the bottom half of the Championship in what has been an extremely disappointing campaign from The Potters who were amongst the pre-season favourites to bounce right back up into the Premier League following last season’s relegation from the top flight.

However, things didn’t go according to plan for Stoke who made a sluggish start under former manager Garry Rowett, and although they replaced Rowett with former Luton Town boos, Nathan Jones, Stoke haven’t made any improvement and they’re now destined for another Championship season next term.

Stoke have managed just one win from their last six matches overall in the Championship which was an unlikely 1-0 win away at Blackburn Rovers, but their season has been littered with way too many draws in this campaign and this has really held them back.

Stoke have drawn no fewer than 12 matches on their travels too, amidst an overall away record of 3-12-6 19/27 so it would be highly recommended that the draw is kept onside as far as possible in this clash!

Betting Tips Verdict

Middlesbrough appear to have the tools to record the points here, but it’s recommended to use the handicap in this one.
