Football – England – Premier League Betting Tips

Wednesday night also includes a desperate relegation clash between two struggling teams in the north-east of England as Middlesbrough take on Sunderland at the Riverside Stadium in a must-win encounter for both sides.

Middlesbrough have had to endure a baptism of fire in their return to the Premier League this season, and their poor results and steady decline down the league table to the relegation zone ultimately cost former manager Karanka his job despite getting Boro up from the Championship at the end of last season.

Middlesbrough’s situation got even worse on Saturday as they imploded away at Bournemouth, losing 4-0 and having Gaston Ramirez sent off as he lost his head. In addition, Boro have now gone 16 league matches without a win as their relegation worries deepen.

Visitors Sunderland sit bottom of the table and three points adrift of their rivals Middlesbrough ahead of this clash but they did earn a point in a 2-2 draw with West Ham last time out, showing character as they trailed 2-1 to earn a valuable point.

However, Sunderland are without a win from their last eight league matches in the top flight, and possess a poor away record that stands at  2-1-12  10/27 which includes losing their last three matches on the trot on their travels with defeats at Everton, Watford and Leicester City.

The Black Cats have failed to score in 9 of their 15 away matches to date, and they won’t be throwing everything but the kitchen sink at Middlesbrough here as they’ll want to keep things tight at the back under manager Moyes.

This won’t be a match for the purist!
