Middlesbrough Preview – Can Boro make it three home wins on the spin?

Neil Warnock’s Middlesbrough have been in patchy form of late, losing four and drawing three of seven since back-to-back draws with Derby County and Blackburn Rovers in late August.

After a poor 2-0 defeat at Hull City before the international break, Boro bounced back with a much-needed home victory over Peterborough United last time out. A late Paddy McNair penalty and an injury-time effort from Josh Coburn gave Boro a 2-0 victory. Middlesbrough also won the previous one at home, beating Sheffield United by the same scoreline.

Our betting prediction:
Both teams to score

Middlesbrough have taken 15 points from their opening 12 matches and currently sit in mid-table in the Championship. Warnock’s men are five points away from sixth and seven points above Barnsley in 22nd. Can they pick up another precious three points on home turf in this one?

Barnsley Preview – Can the Tykes avoid a fifth successive reverse?

Barnsley were one of the surprise packages in the Championship last season, with Valerien Ismael coming in and taking the Yorkshire club to the play-offs. Ismael left for West Bromwich Albion in the summer, with Markus Schopp taking over.

Schopp made a decent start, drawing at Cardiff City on the opening weekend before beating Coventry in game two. However, the Tykes have yet to win since, drawing four and losing six of their following ten. Barnsley are in the relegation zone with just eight points to their name.

Since drawing four of five, Schopp’s side have lost four on the bounce in the Championship. Barnsley will be desperate to avoid a fifth straight league loss in midweek.
