Middlesbrough Preview – Can Boro secure a first win in five?

Chris Wilder’s first game in charge of Middlesbrough ended in a 1-1 home draw with Millwall on Saturday. Matt Crooks’ effort put Boro in front after just 15 minutes. However, a Sol Bamba own goal gave the Lions a share of the spoils at the Riverside Stadium.

Middlesbrough are without a win in four in the Championship. Since picking up a 2-0 victory at Cardiff City on 23rd October, the club from North Yorkshire have lost two and drawn two. Before the international break, Middlesbrough drew 1-1 with West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns, which proved to be Neil Warnock’s final game in charge.

Our betting prediction:
Middlesbrough to be winning at half time & full time

Middlesbrough have dropped down to 14th after recent results, but Wilder’s side are only six points adrift of sixth. Can they get back on track with three points here?

Preston North End Preview – Will the Lilywhites suffer a fourth away loss in five?

Frankie McAvoy’s Preston North End fell to a disappointing home defeat at the weekend. They were excellent in the first 45 minutes against lowly Cardiff, but the Bluebirds turned it around in the second period to leave Deepdale with a 2-1 win.

The loss to Cardiff was Preston’s first home defeat since the opening weekend of the season. However, their form on the road has been poor of late. North End head to the Riverside having lost three of their last four away games. The recent win at Bournemouth was their first and only away league victory of the season.

Middlesbrough vs Preston North End Betting Advice

When these two sides last met, Middlesbrough picked up a comfortable 2-0 home win back in March. A first-half own goal and a second-half Marcus Tavernier strike did the business – Alan Brown was sent off for North End before the break.

The reverse matchup at Deepdale was very different, as Brad Potts, Scott Sinclair and Emil Ris Jakobsen netted in a 3-0 Preston victory.

Key Facts – Middlesbrough vs Preston North End Betting Tip

  • Three of Boro’s last four wins have come at home
  • Preston have lost three of their previous four away matches
  • Wilder started with a 1-1 home draw last weekend

After back-to-back 1-1 draws, Middlesbrough will be looking for all three points from this one. Preston have struggled of late, especially away from home. We are backing Wilder to get his first Boro victory here – put some money on the hosts to win -1 at 11/4.

Matt Crooks is a vital cog in Middlesbrough’s midfield machine, and the 27-year-old has chipped in with some important goals this term. Crooks is nicely priced at 10/3 to notch anytime in Tuesday’s fixture.
