Jonathan Woodgate’s Middlesbrough and Steve Cooper’s Swansea City meet at the Riverside Stadium in EFL Championship action on Saturday. Boro picked up a precious three points at Charlton Athletic before the break; can they build on that this weekend? The Swans still have play-off hopes, but the hosts are the slight favourites with the bookies.

Middlesbrough Preview – Can Boro make it back-to-back wins?

Middlesbrough battled to a vital victory at The Valley before the break. Paddy McNair’s first-half goal proved to be enough in the 1-0 win. That was the Teessiders’ first Championship victory since a 2-0 success against Preston North End at Deepdale on New Year’s Day.

Jonathan Woodgate’s men were supposed to be challenging for a play-off place before a ball was kicked last summer, but Middlesbrough have spent all season in a relegation scrap. Boro are not out of the woods just yet, either, as they are only two points clear of the bottom three in 19th.

Middlesbrough have struggled for wins at the Riverside this term. In fact, their last league victory on home turf was on Boxing Day, as a Djed Spence goal gave them a 1-0 victory over Huddersfield Town.

Swansea City Preview – Will the Swans finally win on the road in 2020?

Steve Cooper made a superb start to life in South Wales, guiding Swansea City to seven wins and a draw from his first eight league and cup matches. Swansea were challenging with the big boys at the top at the beginning, but they head to North Yorkshire having won just one of their previous nine in the Championship.

Swansea drew two on the bounce before the break, holding high-flying West Bromwich Albion to a 0-0 draw at the Liberty Stadium in their last outing. Before that, they drew 2-2 with Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.

Swansea have won just once away from home since a 2-1 win at Wigan Athletic on November 2nd. Since beating Luton Town 1-0 at Kenilworth Road a few days before Christmas, the Swans have drawn four and lost four of eight on the road in all competitions.

The Welsh outfit are one of many clubs chasing down a Championship play-off berth. As the season resumes, City are just three points off sixth. A win on Saturday would do their promotion hopes the world of good.

Middlesbrough vs Swansea City Betting Advice

These two clashed in an eventful game at the Liberty in December, with the match producing four goals and two red cards. An Andre Ayew brace helped the Swans to a 3-1 home win, while Marcus Browne and Paddy McNair were sent off for Boro.

Key Facts – Middlesbrough vs Swansea City Betting Tip

  • Middlesbrough’s win last time out was their first victory since New Year’s Day
  • Swansea have yet to win away from home in 2020
  • The Swans have drawn three of their previous four away matches

This could be another eventful matchup between Boro and the Swans, as both sides look for maximum points for different reasons. With that in mind, take a punt on the draw and both teams to score at 10/3.

Britt Assombalonga has been far from prolific this season, but the striker is certainly capable of finding the net at any given time. Boro’s No. 9 is available at 9/2 to score the opening goal on Saturday.
