Middlesbrough Preview – Can Boro end three-game winless home run?

Middlesbrough have had a mixed season so far. Neil Warnock left a month back, with former Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder taking over at the Riverside Stadium. At the time of writing, the North Yorkshire club are sitting in 12th place on 26 points.

Wilder has been in charge for three matches. In game one, Millwall held Boro to a 1-1 draw at the Riverside. They then lost 2-1 at home to Preston North End. Nevertheless, Middlesbrough picked up their first victory in six last time out, winning 2-1 at Huddersfield Town thanks to two Duncan Watmore goals.

After the hard-fought 2-1 victory at the John Smith’s Stadium last Saturday, Middlesbrough would love to follow that up with another three points here. The home win is available at 21/20.

Swansea City Preview – Can the Swans return to Wales with a positive result?

Russell Martin, who took over in the summer, had a tough start to his Swansea City career. The Swans picked up just one victory from their opening eight Championship matches, losing three and drawing four of the other seven.

After three draws in the first half of September, a 1-0 home victory over Huddersfield on 25th September was the turning point. Over the next six weeks, City beat the likes of Cardiff City, West Bromwich Albion, Peterborough United and Coventry City to move up the table.

Middlesbrough vs Swansea City Betting Advice

Last season, both meetings ended in 2-1 wins for the home sides. Middlesbrough beat the Swans at the Riverside a year ago, while City got revenge with a 2-1 victory of their own in South Wales in March.

Swansea have been tough opponents for Middlesbrough in recent times, with the Swans winning four of the previous five, while Boro have won just one of the past seven meetings.

Key Facts – Middlesbrough vs Swansea City Betting Tip

  • Wilder picked up his first Boro win last time out
  • Swansea were beaten at home by Reading last weekend
  • Middlesbrough have won only one of their previous seven meetings with the Swans

Swansea have a good recent record in this fixture, and the Swans will be hoping for a positive result in North Yorkshire at the weekend. These two look hard to split on paper, so put some money on the draw and both teams to score at 4/1.

Joel Piroe has been a massive hit with the Swansea fans since arriving from Dutch football in the summer. The 22-year-old has already netted ten Championship goals for the Swans. Piroe is priced at 12/5 to score anytime in this one.
