Middlesbrough Prediction – Can Middlesbrough continue revival?

Middlesbrough will no doubt be hoping they can carry their recent form from the Championship into this upcoming FA Cup third round tie with Tottenham on Sunday as Middlesbrough manager, Jonathan Woodgate, takes on one of his former clubs.

Boro come into this clash having won their last 4 matches on the trot in the Championship which has helped lift the north-east outfit out of the relegation zone and into the relative safety of 16th place on the second tier ladder and 10 points above the bottom three.

This sudden transformation in results has been a welcome boost for Woodgate and Boro as the former Tottenham and Middlesbrough defender appeared to be on the brink of losing his job, but recent wins against Stoke City, Huddersfield Town, West Brom and Preston North End will give them confidence of giving Tottenham a run for their money here.

Form at home has been pretty solid overall as Middlesbrough have lost just 2 of their last 12 matches overall in all competitions.

Tottenham Prediction – Can Tottenham progress?

Tottenham manager, Jose Mourinho, is expected to make changes to his starting XI ahead of this FA Cup third round tie away at Championship club, Middlesbrough, especially as he saw his side suffer a disappointing 1-0 defeat away form home at Southampton to start their New Year in poor fashion.

Although Mourinho has helped lift Tottenham further up the Premier League table and into 6th place, the inconsistent results are still evident as is their leaky defence which Mourinho still has yet to fix.

Defeats to Manchester United, Chelsea and Southampton have offset their recent wins against Bournemouth, Burnley, Wolves and Brighton and they’re by no means guaranteed of success at Middlesbrough on Sunday due to these inconsistencies.

Top of Mourinho’s ‘to do’ list must surely be to improve Spurs’ results away from home as the London club have managed to register just 1 away win out of their last 5 matches in all competitions, and indeed, have won just 3 of their last 15 on the road.

Key-Facts – Middlesbrough vs Tottenham

  • Middlesbrough have lost just 2 of their last 12 matches overall in all competitions
  • Boro come into this clash having won their last 4 matches on the trot
  • Tottenham have won just 3 of their last 15 matches on the road

Betting Tips Verdict

With their recent winning momentum behind them, Middlesbrough stand a decent chance of causing an upset here, or at least keeping the tie close.
