Midtjylland Preview – Can Midtjylland end mini-slump?
Midtjylland will be keen to get off the mark on Matchday 2 in their Europa League campaign after being handed a 1-0 defeat away from home at Sturm Graz but although the hosts return to their MCH Arena for Thursday night’s clash against Lazio, recent results overall have been disappointing.
Midtjylland have managed to register just one win from their last nine matches overall which came in the form of a 2-0 win away from home at Brondby in the domestic Danish Superliga, but they have also been dealt five defeats and drawn the other three games, so the prospects of a straight win for the home side on Thursday evening looks unlikely.
Form and results on home soil has also taken a turn for the worse where Midtjylland have been concerned as the hosts have failed to win any of their last six games on home soil, drawing with Randers and AEK Larnaca (the latter being a previous Champions League tie), and then losing their subsequent four games on the trot in all competitions.

Their one success to date at home in this competition was a 3-2 victory over Sporting Braga but two draws and two defeats (losses to Malmo and Rangers) suggest this could be a tough evening at the office for Midtjylland.
Lazio Preview – Can Lazio make it three on the trot?
By contrast, Lazio will head over to Denmark for Thursday evening’s Matchday 2 clash against Midtjylland looking to record a third successive win on the trot in all competitions following recent wins against Feyenoord 4-2 at home in last week’s Group F opener, along with a domestic Serie A 2-0 win at home against Verona.
Confidence will therefore be high amongst the Lazio camp as they prepare for this upcoming group game with the Italian visitors knowing that another three points at the MCH Arena would place them in a very promising position in the group from which to seal a possible place in the subsequent knockout rounds.
Lazio have suffered just the one defeat in their opening seven competitive games of this new season, that being a 2-1 loss at home to Napoli in the Italian top flight but the visitors have also picked up wins against Bologna, Inter Milan, Feyenoord and Verona, along with picking up points in draws at Torino and Sampdoria.

However, results away from home at this level have been disappointing with Lazio collecting just one win from their last nine outings on the road and suffering seven defeats in the process, so it may be prudent to back the visitors with the asian handicap in this tie.
