Milan Preview – Can Milan muster a performance that brings them three points and move up the table?

The change in head coach has not had an immediate effect at Milan. Sacking Marco Giampaolo before the international break in October and replacing him with Stefano Pioli was seen as being a pragmatic move to get Milan closer to the European spots. As it stand, in his five games in charge, Milan have managed only one victory. That solitary win came at home to SPAL who are only one point off bottom spot. The other four matches have seen them draw with Lecce and lose against Roma (away), Lazio (at home) and Juventus (away). In their defence, those defeats have all been by a margin of one goal and have been against three of the current top six. The big games keep on coming for Pioli and his team with the visit of Napoli on Saturday.

A major issue for Milan has been their inability to score goals. Their first 12 games have seen them score only 11 goals and Krzysztof Piatek is their top scorer with only three goals – and the Polish striker has not even been a first choice.

Napoli Preview – Will Ancelotti and Napoli put their troubles behind them and get back to winning ways?

A season that promised so much for Napoli is descending into something of a farce. Carlo Ancelotti has been at loggerheads with the club’s owners following a disagreement on how to deal with the team’s poor recent results. How long this continues before a change is made remains to be seen but it cannot be good for team morale and the split has been worsening week by week. Napoli head to the San Siro on Saturday having not won a game in any competition since the 23rd of October. Since then they have drawn four and lost one, a 2-1 defeat away to Roma. Considering two of the draws came againt Genoa and SPAL it’s indicative of Napoli’s struggles at the moment.

Despite their troubles in the Serie A Napoli can qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League if they better RB Salzburg’s result on Wednesday night. They’ve yet to be beaten in Europe this season and look well placed to go through along with Liverpool whom they face at Anfield next week before finishing their campaign at home to Genk. Ancelotti will be hoping to replicate their European form in domestic action, starting this weekend.

Milan vs Napoli Betting Advice

Neither Milan or Napoli are in good form at the moment, at least in Serie A. Both are under performing massively considering their respective squads and will be hoping to kick start what have been flagging league campaigns to date.
Facing Milan at the San Siro has not been a happy hunting ground for Napoli in recent times, failing to score in their last three visits. Ancelotti will be hoping that comes to an end on Saturday but goals have not been flowing of late for the Naples club. Milan average less than a goal a game themselves which sets this up to be a low-scoring affair. Under 2.5 goals is the selection for this match at the San Siro.
