Millwall and Preston North End go head-to-head at The Den this Tuesday night in an EFL Championship encounter. Millwall Preview – Lions to roar back with a home win?

Gary Rowett’s Millwall have shot up the Championship table after a solid run of results of late. The Lions are in 12th spot at present, nine points adrift of the play-off places. Overall, the south London outfit have picked up nine wins, drawn 16 times and suffered eight defeats.

Unfortunately for Millwall, they were narrowly beaten at fellow promotion hopefuls Barnsley last weekend. It was a close game at Oakwell, but Michal Helik’s effort just before the hour mark won the points for the Tykes. Nevertheless, that was Millwall’s first league defeat since a 3-1 reverse at Nottingham Forest on 16th January.

Our betting prediction:
Both teams to score – No
4/5

Prior to last weekend’s loss, Millwall had gone nine league games unbeaten, winning four and drawing five. As we enter the business end of the season, can Millwall put another run together and break into the top six?

Preston North End Preview – Can the Lilywhites pick up another good away result?

Preston North End have blown hot and cold of late, but Alex Neil’s men put on an impressive performance against Huddersfield Town at the weekend. Goals from Brad Potts, Ched Evans and Scott Sinclair gave North End a comfortable 3-0 victory.

Preston were hammered 4-0 at Cardiff City in their last away game and have lost four of their last six on the road in all competitions, but the Lilywhites have a pretty solid away record in the Championship. In fact, only Norwich City, Cardiff City, Brentford and Reading have picked up more away points up until now.

After last Saturday’s excellent win over the Terriers, can Neil’s boys beat Millwall in midweek? The away victory is available at 13/5.

Millwall vs Preston North End Betting Advice

Millwall picked up a superb away win when these two squared off at Deepdale back in October. Kenneth Zohore opened the scoring shortly after half time, with a Jed Wallace penalty doubling the Lions’ advantage late on. Millwall have won each of the last three meetings.

Key Facts – Millwall vs Preston North End Betting Tip

  • Millwall have won three in a row against Preston, scoring four and conceding none
  • The Lions went nine league games without defeat before last weekend’s reverse at Oakwell
  • 25 of Preston’s 43 points this term have come away from home

On paper, Millwall and Preston seem pretty evenly matched. However, the Lions have a good recent record over the Lilywhites, and we can see the home team nicking the points on Tuesday. Two of Millwall’s last three wins over North End have ended 1-0 – the 1-0 home victory here is priced at 11/2.

Jed Wallace was on target at Deepdale earlier in the season. The 26-year-old midfielder has netted a respectable seven Championship goals this term. Have a punt on Wallace to score anytime in this one at 12/5.
