Millwall Preview – Can the Lions roar to a rare home win?

Millwall have had a mediocre Championship campaign up until now. Gary Rowett’s men are in 14th spot at present, taking 32 points from 27 league matches. Although they have not lost many (seven), the Londoners have only won six times. No team in England’s second tier have drawn more, with over half of Millwall’s Championship games ending all square.

To be fair to the London side, they have not been an easy nut to crack this season. Since a 3-1 defeat at Nottingham Forest, the Lions are unbeaten in four. However, after winning 1-0 at Huddersfield Town, Millwall have drawn three Championship games on the spin.

Our betting prediction:
Both teams to score
4/5

Millwall have won just one of their opening 13 Championship matches at The Den. Only Birmingham City and Wycombe Wanderers have taken fewer home points up until now. However, just Huddersfield, Derby County and Coventry City have won on their patch in Championship action this term.

Sheffield Wednesday Preview – Owls to continue fine form?

Sheffield Wednesday are still on the search for a permanent manager, but caretaker boss Neil Thompson is doing a fine job at the moment. The Owls head to The Den having won five of their past seven in the Championship.

Over the past six weeks or so, Wednesday have picked up vital victories over the likes of Coventry, Middlesbrough, Derby, Preston North End and Bournemouth. Their only league defeat since mid-December came away to Coventry on January 27th.

Despite their superb form, Sheffield Wednesday still find themselves in the Championship’s drop zone. However, they have certainly given themselves a fighting chance in the battle for survival. The away win here is available at 14/5.

Millwall vs Sheffield Wednesday Betting Advice

The last two Millwall vs Sheffield Wednesday meetings have ended in 0-0 draws. Wednesday have failed to score in each of their last four against the Lions, with three of those being goalless. The Owls last beat Millwall back in August 2018, as goals from Barry Bannan and Tom Lees gave the Sheffield side a 2-1 win at Hillsborough.

Key Facts – Millwall vs Sheffield Wednesday Betting Tip

  • Three of the last four meetings have ended in goalless draws
  • Millwall have picked up just one Championship win at The Den this season
  • Wednesday have won five of their last seven league games

On Tuesday night, Thompson’s side picked up an excellent 2-1 away win at Bournemouth. Callum Paterson gave the Owls the lead just before half time, with Jordan Rhodes netting the winner in injury time. The 2-1 Wednesday win on Saturday is available at the generous odds of 8/1.

Rhodes was linked with a move away from Hillsborough during the January Transfer Window, but the 30-year-old stayed and scored a priceless winner in midweek, which was his first goal since September. We fancy Rhodes to follow that up by opening the scoring on Saturday. The Owls No. 20 is available at 8/1 to score first.
