Stoke have had a miserable couple of years in the Championship after their relegation from the Premier League. However, former Northern Ireland boss Michael O’Neill guided the Potters to safety last term.
Stoke finished in 15th, picking up a mere 56 points along the way. They won 16 games, drew eight times and suffered a staggering 22 defeats. Only Luton Town and Hull City (who finished bottom) suffered more losses in last season’s Championship.

After surviving last term, Stoke are fancied to do well under O’Neill this season, with the bookies pricing them at just 13/8 to finish in the top six. Last weekend, City started their 2020-21 season with a win over Blackpool in the EFL Cup. The Tangerines from EFL League One took the Potters to penalties after a 0-0 draw, with Stoke prevailing 5-4.
It will be interesting to see how far O’Neill can take this talented Stoke team this season. They could be dark horses for promotion to the Premier League.
