Millwall Preview – Will Millwall return from break with another strong showing at home?

It will be more than two weeks since Millwall played when they take to the field on Sunday. Due to postponements, Gary Rowett’s men have not played since the 11th of December (when losing 2-1 away to Peterborough) but that has been a fate which has blighted the majority of teams in the Championship so they have not lost too much ground on the teams above them. Before their enforced layoff they had dropped off somewhat with just one win in their last five games.

Millwall sit in 12th place heading into the next set of fixtures, five points adrift of sixth place which is currently occupied by Stoke City. They’re certainly within touching distance but it could be even more encouraging had they turned a couple of draws into wins. Millwall have nine draws which is the second most in the Championship.

Their form at home has been strong, though, and they will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to six games at The Den. Only Fulham and Luton have left with maximum points whilst they have won five and drawn three.

Three players are responsible for more than half of Millwall’s goals. Benik Afobe, Jed Wallace and Tom Bradshaw have combined for 14 of their team’s 24 goals underlining their importance to a team who are not considered to be the most attacking.

Swansea Preview – Can Swans win to keep themselves in the hunt for the playoffs?

Swansea have earned many plaudits for their style of play since Russell Martin took charge at the beginning of the season. They have the most possession of any team home and away in the league which is a fundamental of Martin’s style. As it is still early in the process, though, results are not yet following which is why Swansea sit a further three points behind their opponents as they look to close on the top six.

Similar to Millwall, the Swans have not played for a couple of weeks but the break may well have come at a decent time for them having lost three consecutive matches.

It means it is now one win in their last six league matches with four losses during that run. Their form on the road has been frustrating for a longer period as well. In their 11 away games in the Championship they have been successful three times with six losses so there is definitely a vulnerability when they go on their travels.

That is further evidenced by the fact they have the fourth worst away defensive record in the Championship (19 goals conceded). Only Bristol City, Peterborough and Cardiff have allowed more goals away from home so far.

Millwall vs Swansea Betting Advice

There was nothing to separate these two when they met in September, playing out a goalless draw. A win is needed for both as they look to keep pace with the teams above them and it’s the home team you have to fancy.

Millwall may have drawn too many games but they are hard to beat at home whilst they come up against a team who concede too many on their travels.

  • Millwall’s total of nine draws is the second most in the Championship
