Monaco – Can Monaco continue their excellent form and extend their winning run to nine?

It has been something of an up and down season for Monaco but as the campaign draws to an end, there is no team finishing stronger than in France and perhaps even Europe. The 2-1 win away to Lille last Friday extended their winning run to eight games, a period of form which has put them to within three points of Marseille in second place which brings with it automatic Champions League qualification. They also have to worry about staying ahead of Nice who are a place behind them and just a couple of points back. Third place ensures entry into qualification for Europe’s top competition.

Monaco will complete their season with a trip to Lens next Saturday, which is a difficult game in itself against a team in seventh, so there is plenty of work to do despite their excellent form.

(odds taken 2000 GMT, Thursday 12 May)
It has been a remarkable turnaround considering they had won just two of eight games and were eliminated from domestic and European cup competitions in that spell. Such a winning run looked unthinkable at that time but Philippe Clement has found a formula which works.
Spearheading this is the classy forward Wissam Ben Yedder. The French internationalist is on 21 goals in Ligue 1 this season, only Kylian Mbappe has scored more. He has also hit six in his last eight for club.

Brest Preview – Will Brest bounce back from weekend defeat and boost their hopes of a top half finish?

Michel Der Zakarian is one of the most travelled coaches in French football and arrived at Brest last summer, taking on his fifth club in a career which spans over a decade now. Considering they survived by a single point last season in a relegation battle which went to the final day, it has been a much improved campaign under the Armenian.

With two games to go, there is still a live chance that Brest can finish in the top half. They are three points behind Lille and will finish their season at home to already relegated Bordeaux.

A three-game winning run was brought to an end last time out with a home defeat against Strasbourg, meaning they failed to take advantage of Lille dropping points earlier in the weekend. Brest’s form on the road will give them encouragement they can be competitive here. They’ve won three of their last five which is the same number of wins they managed in their previous 10 away matches.

Franck Honorat is the main goal scoring threat. The 11 goals he has managed his already his best return in a season and will be looking to add to that tally further.

Monaco vs Brest Betting Advice

It may seem that Monaco’s need for points is much greater than their opponents but there’s no doubt that Brest will be doing all they can to keep alive their top half hopes, and at least take it into the last game. The hosts know, however, that anything less than three points would be catastrophic to their hopes of taking second place from Marseille.

The Monte-Carlo club won’t have it easy, though, they have lost three of the last five to Brest, albeit all of them were on their travels.

Key Facts –  Monaco vs Brest Betting Tip

  • Brest’s three game winning streak came to an end with defeat to Strasbourg at the weekend
