Louis van Gaal’s Netherlands are on the cusp of securing qualification to next year’s 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The Dutch are top of Group G on 19 points, two clear of Norway and four ahead of Turkey. This Saturday night, Oranje make the trip to the City Stadium in Podgorica to face Miodrag Radulovic’s Montenegro, who still have slim qualification hopes. This promises to be an entertaining encounter in the Montenegrin capital.

Montenegro Preview – Can the Montenegrins upset the Dutch?

Montenegro have had a mixed bag of results during this qualifying campaign. So far, the Brave Falcons have won three, lost three and drawn two. They are currently in fourth spot with 11 points to their name, five points away from second-place Norway.

Montenegro suffered a costly 2-0 defeat to the Norwegians last time out. In what was a real six-pointer in Oslo, Mohamed Elyounoussi bagged a brace to give Norway a precious three points.

Since starting with back-to-back wins over Latvia and Gibraltar, the Brave Falcons have gone on to win just one more game in the group. They have given themselves a huge mountain to climb in terms of World Cup qualification, and Miodrag Radulovic’s men will miss out if they drop points in any of their remaining two fixtures.

Netherlands Preview – Oranje to take another giant leap towards Qatar?

Netherlands have recovered extremely well after starting their campaign with a poor 4-2 defeat to Turkey in Istanbul on matchday one. Since then, the Dutch are unbeaten in seven Group G games, collecting 19 points from a possible 21.

Holland have all but secured a place in the top two, but Louis van Gaal’s troops will want to win the group ahead of next week’s match with Norway in Rotterdam. If the Norwegians drop points against Latvia on Saturday, Oranje will seal direct qualification to Qatar with three points against Montenegro.

Van Gaal’s in-form side head to Podgorica as the odds-on favourites with the bookies. They eased past them in the reverse fixture in Eindhoven two months back, and Holland should have no problems in this one, either.

Montenegro vs Netherlands Betting Advice

Netherlands were far too strong for Montenegro at the Philips Stadion in Eindhoven in September. Memphis Depay helped himself to a brace before Georginio Wijnaldum and Cody Gakpo completed the 4-0 romp.

Key Facts – Montenegro vs Netherlands Betting Tip

  • Holland thumped Montenegro 4-0 in the reverse game
  • The Dutch have won six and drawn one of their last seven qualifiers
  • The Montenegrins have picked up just one victory from their previous six Group G games

After a promising start, Montenegro look to have blown their World Cup qualification chances. Although they are not mathematically out of it, the Brave Falcons need maximum points from their last two and favours from elsewhere.

Netherlands have been very easy one the eye of late, especially since Van Gaal’s return. Oranje should claim a comfortable victory at the City Stadium, and we like the look of 4/5 for the visitors to be winning at half time and full time.

Memphis Depay has been in tremendous goal-scoring form in this qualifying campaign, netting an impressive nine goals in Group G. The Barcelona ace is nicely priced at 7/2 to score two or more in this one.
