Montenegro Preview – Can Montenegro win three on trot?
The hosts, Montenegro, have made a quick start out of the blocks in Group G, winning both of their opening group matches with victories over whipping boys, Latvia 2-1 away and a 4-1 home win over Gibraltar, but the tough fixtures now begin for the hosts.
Norway, Turkey and Netherlands are their next three fixtures, starting with Norway on Tuesday night and although Montenegro have had a degree of success in World Cup qualifiers at home with recent wins over Armenia, Romania and Gibraltar, their last meeting against Norway ended in defeat.
A 2-1 loss away from home in Norway in a friendly was way back in 2010 but at home, Montenegro have kept just four clean sheets out of their 16 qualifiers on home soil to date and Norway possess prolific goalscorer, Haaland (21 goals for Dortmund this season).
Norway Preview – Can Norway bounce back?
Norway also started their World Cup qualifying campaign in explosive fashion, winning 3-0 away from home at easy-beats, Gibraltar, but then came unstuck at home to Turkey, losing 3-0 in a surprising defeat.
The visitors will therefore be looking to get back on track in Podgorica on Tuesday night and they’re expected to be fighting it out in a three-way battle for one of the top two spots in Group G with Turkey and the favourites, Netherlands.
Norway have won three of their last four World Cup qualifiers which includes victories over San Marino 8-0 and Northern Ireland 1-0, but there’s still some work to do on their travels I fancy.
