Northern Ireland Prediction – Will Irish eyes be smiling tonight?
Onto Group C and the surprise package so far in this 5-nation group has been Monday night’s hosts, Northern Ireland, as they sit top of the group with a 100% winning record and 12 points under their belts so far in what has been an excellent campaign for Michael O’Neill’s side.
The Irish hold a 3-point cushion ahead of 2nd placed Germany ahead of tonight’s clash at Windsor Park and a 6-point buffer over 3rd placed Netherlands who have a game in hand and play bottom nation, Estonia, in the other match being played in Group c tonight.
It’s therefore vitally important that Northern Ireland avoid defeat in this clash and having recorded 4 wins on the trot so far with victories against Estonia (home and away) and Belarus (home and away), they’ll be confident they can give Germany a run for their money here.
However, the real test starts on Monday night against Germany and will continue in their next 4 group matches as they play Germany and Netherlands home and away which will test the Irish resilience no doubt.

Germany Prediction – Can Germany overhaul N. Ireland at top?
Germany will be desperate to bounce back with a win following their 4-2 humiliation at home to the Netherlands over the weekend which has left them 3 points adrift of surprise leaders, Northern Ireland, as they prepare for their visit to Belfast on Monday night.
Despite that recent defeat, Germany can still replace the Irish at the top of Group C with a win in tonight’s encounter at Windsor Park as the visitors possess a better goal difference, and having won their opening away matches in back-to-back wins at Netherlands and Belarus, Germany will fancy their chances of returning to winning ways here.
Joachim Low’s side look in reasonable shape away from home too at this level as they’ve won 10 of their last 12 Euro qualifiers away from home, and have won the last 7 meetings against Northern Ireland in all competitions.
However, question marks still remain over Germany’s consistency and having lost to Netherlands and facing an Irish side with a 100% record, Monday night’s result may not be a foregone conclusion.
