Tennis betting action from Austria features Nadia Podoroska taking on Irina Camelia Begu at WTA Linz.

This is an interesting one as well as it will be the first meeting between the two players.

The match is a first-round fixture at the tournament and heading into it as the favourite is Romania’s Begu.

Nadia Podoroska Preview – Can Podoroska pull off the upset?

There is a reasonable chance here for Argentina’s Nadia Podoroska who is the 11/10 underdog in tennis betting* (odds taken 02:15 GMT Tuesday, 10th November).

She is ranked higher in the world standings than her opponent on Wednesday, sitting inside the top fifty.

Podoroska has already made a huge name for herself, despite starting the year as a relative unknown.

That is because the 23 year old made an astonishing run to the semi finals of the French Open.

She was producing some fearless tennis on the clay and took out third seed Elina Svitolina in the quarter finals for the biggest win of her career.

Podorsooka had started the French Open in the first qualifying round, so it was some journey from here and she dropped just two sets in the main draw.

This appearance in Austria will be the first appearance for the Argentine since that big run in Paris.

Just before that run to the French Open semi finals, Podoroska had also made a tremendous run to the final four of the Prague Open as well.

So she has taken her win/loss record for 2020 to 41/7 which has been a fantastic return.

It should be noted that most of her early action this year was in lower tiered tournaments outside of the top WTA events.

But now having stepped forward at the very top of the game, she is well worth looking at to get back to winning ways on her return.

The surface may not be her best so a Podorosk 2-1 option in set betting could be just worth a flutter for tennis betting at 4/1* (odds taken 02:15 GMT Tuesday, 10th November).

Either way, we fancy her to be well in this fixture and the bookies may well be underesting her challenge.

Irina Camelia Begu Preview – Will the experienced Begu hold her nerve?

Romania’s Irina Camelia Begu is at 23/10 for the season on the WTA Tour and she goes into this first round match in Austria as a 4/6 quote* (odds taken 02:15 GMT Tuesday, 10th November).

Begu is ranked 78th in the world at the moment and like her opponent is most often seen in ITF and Oracle Series events.

In early August she did have a run to the semi finals of the Prague Open where she was stopped by Simona Halep.

Begu had dropped a set in all but one of her four matches at the event and hasn’t been past the second round in her three WTA Tour level events since there.

She was hammered in a Rome match by Britain’s Johanna Konta before losing to her compatriot Halep again at Roland Garros.

The most recent action that Begu had was in the Czech Republic in mid-October when she was beaten in the second qualifying round.

So there are certainly vulnerabilities in her game at the moment and we can see her getting picked off.

Irina Camelia Begu is facing a confident player in this one and if she sees the first go against her, we don’t see her working her way back into it.

A Begu Not To Win A Set tennis betting option is at 9/4 and well worth consideration we feel* (odds taken 02:15 GMT Tuesday, 10th November).

She certainly does not look to be at a place where she is going to come out and steamroller her opponent at all.

Nadia Podoroska vs Irina Camelia Begu Betting Advice

This is a great-looking match in the first round of WTA Linz on Wednesday and for our tennis betting option, we would have to swing favouritism to Podoroska.

The fact that she had built up a nice bit of form before that tremendous run at the French Open, shows that the Grand Slam effort wasn’t just a fluke.

So it is the underdog we fancy in this fixture.

Key Facts – Nadia Podoroska vs Irina Camelia Begu Betting Tip

  • Nadia Podoroska reached the semi finals at the French Open
  • Nadia Podoroska is ranked inside the top 50
  • Irina Camelia Begu has not been past the second round in her last two WTA Tour level events

For us, there is enough there to look at the Podoroska 2-0 in set betting for the match at 11/4* (odds taken 02:15 GMT Tuesday, 10th November).

The winning form this season of the Argentine speaks for itself in our eyes. Her season just hasn’t been about that Grand Slam effort in Paris.
