Football – France – Ligue 1 Betting Tips

Following recent back-to-back defeats away from home, tonight’s hosts, Nantes, return to their Stade de la Beaujoire – Louis Fonteneau keen to avoid a third consecutive loss in Ligue 1 when they play host to third placed Monaco.

Nantes, themselves, still occupy fifth place in the French top flight but now find themselves five points adrift of Marseille who occupy fourth place and the Europa League spot, as the home side have slumped to three defeats from their last four matches overall.

Three losses on the trot away from home at Dijon, PSG and Rennes have severely dented Nantes’s plans to claim a european slot at the end of the season, but they’ll turn to their home form this evening where they hold a useful  4-1-1 6/3 record, having won their last four on the trot on home turf. Striker Sala (4 goals) looks the most likely for the hosts.

Visitors Monaco also suffered defeat last time out in Ligue 1 as they went down 2-1 to title rivals PSG at home, and their hopes of claiming back-to-back league titles now looks a distinct impossibility as they trail PSG by a nine point margin ahead of these midweek fixtures.

Nevertheless, Monaco sit level on points with second placed Lyon as the race for the other Champions League slot hots up with Marseille also in the mix, being just a point behind both Lyon and Monaco. Monaco will therefore be very keen to record all three points here this evening to strengthen their claim for second spot.

The principality hold an away record which stands at  4-1-2 14/9 and although recent results on their travels have produced mixed returns, they’ve failed to score just once on the road so far this season. Forward Falcao (13 goals) is a constant threat to any team in Ligue 1.
