There’s also two matches being played in the French top flight on Tuesday night and my first preview of these two fixtures concerns Nantes taking on Montpellier as the betting tips continue in Ligue 1.
Nantes Prediction
Nantes currently sit in the bottom half of Ligue 1 in 14th place and just four points ahead of the relegation play-off spot as they prepare for the visit of high-flying Montpellier to their Stade de la Beaujoire – Louis Fonteneau where they’ll be looking to bounce back from their recent 1-0 loss away at league leaders, PSG.
The hosts have managed to record just one league win from their last five matches but they progressed through to the next round of the Coupe de France on the weekend with a resounding 4-1 win over Ligue 2 outfit Chateauroux which will be a welcome boost.
Returning to league action, Nantes hold a reasonable home record of 3-3-2 16/9 and recent results look even better as they’ve won three of their last four with victories against Toulouse, Guingamp and Marseille along with a point against Angers SCO.
Midfielder Boschilia (4 goals) and forward Sala (12 goals) look the most likely for Nantes here.
Montpellier Prediction
The visitors sit in 4th place in Ligue 1 but come into this clash having failed to win any of their last three matches in all competitions following a 1-0 loss at home to Lille and a 1-1 draw with Lyon as well as an early Coupe de France exit to minnows Entente on the weekend.
In Ligue 1, Montpellier have registered just the on win from their last five matches overall which was a 2-1 win away at a beleaguered Monaco outfit, but recent defeats to Angers (away) and Lille (home) have seen the visitors wobble in recent weeks.
The visitors have suffered just one defeat on the road though amidst an overall record of 4-2-1 11/6 so they’ll also be confident of getting something from this encounter too.
Forwards Delort and Laborde (7 goals apiece) are the ones to watch out for as Montpellier look to end their winless streak.
Betting Tips Verdict
Nantes have improved at home in recent weeks while Montpellier should at least avoid defeat here – I can see this ending in a stalemate.
