Pressure was increasing on Rino Gattuso even before the last week so speculation on his future has only grown after losing 2-1 to Genoa, a loss which damages their hopes of top four, and then bowing out at the semi-final stage of the Coppa Italia (a competition they won last season) following a loss to Atalanta in midweek. Gattuso will remain in place for this game at least but you do wonder how much longer he would have left should they lose in this game.
Gattuso will point to the fact that his team are just three points outside the Champions League places and their form in general since the turn of the year has not been terrible up until the last seven days. However, it’s now just six wins in 12 matches across all competitions.

It’s been a typical week for the dominant Juventus we’ve all known over the last decade. They brush aside a team who are supposedly seen as title challengers (beating Roma 2-0 last weekend) and turn in a resolute performance in the second leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final against Inter Milan to get within a game of winning more silverware. Andrea Pirlo is definitely beginning to find his feet in his role as head coach, now.
Juve travel to Naples on Saturday sitting in third place behind both Milan clubs. They’re seven points behind the leaders but do have a game in hand and are in their most consistent form of the campaign.

Pirlo will be looking for this team to improve their points return when away from home. They may only have lost one so far (away to Inter last month) but they have won just half of their 10 away matches in the league and that percentage has to increase.
Only Atalanta and Inter have scored more goals on the road, though, so there’s no doubt that the champions do have the firepower to collect more victories.
