NEC Preview – Can NEC hold their own at home?
NEC were handed a resounding 5-0 thrashing in last weekend’s opening match of this new Dutch top flight season by Ajax in what was a dismal return to the Eredivisie, but the hosts will be hoping to produce a better showing on Friday night at their Goffertstadion.
NEC claimed promotion from the Eerste Divisie the hard way at the end of last season as they had to see off Almere City, Roda JC and NAC Breda in post-season play-offs to secure promotion back up to the Eredivisie this term.
The early signs don’t look too promising though and having lost eight of their last 10 games in the domestic top flight, this could be a tough evening, but goals could feature here.
PEC Zwolle Preview – Can Zwolle bounce back?
PEC Zwolle also tasted defeat in last weekend’s opening match of this new Eredivisie season as they went down at home 1-0 to Vitesse, so they too will be looking to grab their first win of this new season on Friday night.
Zwolle finished last season in the bottom half of the Eredivisie in 13th place but there was little danger of relegation as they finished eight points above the third from bottom side, Emmen, but having managed to win just one of their last eight away games, an away win here does seem to be unlikely.
However, goals could feature as six of Zwolle’s last eight away games also resulted in over 2.5 goals.
