Netherlands v France Betting Tip Draw – 16 November 2018

Dutch draw likely against France

International Football Tips

Friday 16th November 1945hrs Netherlands v France Football – International – UEFA Nations League  Group One of League A was easily the most glamorous on paper when the draw as made, consisting of the past two world champions and the three team group completed by the never-dull Netherlands. The Germans have underperformed in their games to date whilst France have picked up where they left off in the World Cup and are in pole position to top the group and reaching the finals next summer. The Dutch can throw a spanner in the works with two games remaining, however, and will be all out for the win on Friday. This group was always going to be a test of where the Dutch team was under Ronald Koeman who is still within his first year of taking over the national squad. It could barely have been a more difficult prospect being grouped with newly crowned world champions France and the team whom the French took the crown off of, Germany. Bearing in mind this is a Netherlands team who have not qualified for the last two major international tournaments then it looked like they would be cast adrift and staring relegation to the league below – but they have equipped themselves well. A narrow defeat in Paris was followed by a deserved – and emphatic – win at home Germany last month and they’ve given themselves a real chance of at least staying in this league which will help their ranking long term. It’s still very much an outside chance that Koeman could steer his team to finish top of this section but it is still a chance. The Dutch would have to win at home to France on Friday and so similar away to Germany on Monday evening. It would be an incredible feat should they manager it but I suspect Koeman would be delighted with one more win which would see them finish second and consign Germany to relegation.

Having conquered the World (cup) in July, France were favourites to win this section and with one game of their group campaign left, that still looks the most likely outcome. Seven points from their three matches thus far is a sound return but they’ve not had it all their own way. A goalless draw in Germany to kick proceedings off was followed by consecutive 2-1 home victories – firstly against the Dutch and then coming from behind to see off Germany last time out. They’ve had to show their fighting qualities in all three matches and it is that winning habit and attitude they have developed which has seen them through against a couple of teams who are currently searching for that. A point on Saturday would see them progress to the finals and provide them with a first opportunity to reach the next European Championships. Of course, we will fully expect to see Didier Deschamps’ men in Euro 2020 no matter what happens in the remainder of the Nations League, but having developed that taste for winning, it’s unlikely they will want to pass up another potential opportunity to lift a trophy and be the inaugural Nations League winners.

Netherlands v France Betting Tip

The De Kuip Stadium is the most atmospheric in the Netherlands and the Dutch players will be hoping for that to be an advantage on Friday as they look to close the gap on France at the top of the group and go into their next game with Germany knowing that a win would see them finish on top. Alternatively, France – who are unbeaten in their last 15 games – will be on the hunt for the point that would see them clinch top spot. The latter of those two outcomes is the most probable but it’s an exciting content nonetheless.

The game these two played in Paris was perhaps the performance these Dutch players needed to instil some belief to go with the talent that they have. France are weakened with the absence of Paul Pogba who has been so influential this year. We know the strength they have in depth, however, and his replacement will be determined to take their chance. The home side will be looking to the French-based Memphis Depay to make the difference on again and there’s no doubting that this is the sort of game which the attacker sees as being the one he should be performing on. I am confident that both of these nations will be competing in Euro 2020 but I fancy France to take another step towards it by getting the point they need on Friday.
