Newcastle Jets currently occupy 7th place on the A-League ladder and are four points adrift of Wellington Phoenix and the last remaining play-offs spot ahead of Wednesday evening’s clash with Brisbane Roar at their McDonald Jones Stadium.

Brisbane Roar sit a disappointing second from bottom in the A-League in 9th place ahead of their trip to Newcastle as they look to draw level on points with 8th placed Western Sydney Wanderers and in turn, kick-start what has been a dismal start to the new Australian domestic season for the visitors.
However, this may be easier said than done for The Roar who have lost their last five matches on the trot, scoring just 5 goals but conceding a total of 14 goals during this disastrous spell of results for the Queensland outfit.
Losses to Adelaide United, tonight’s opponents Newcastle Jets, Melbourne Victory, Wellington Phoenix and Sydney means the visitors now find themselves 9 points off the pace of a top six place, and with an away record of 0-1-5 6/14, further misery looks set to be dished out to Brisbane Roar here.
Striker Taggart (6 goals) seems to be Brisbane Roar’s only hope in this one.
