Wellington Phoenix were handed a heavy 3-0 defeat away at Perth Glory last weekend and this followed an earlier loss to high-flying Sydney 1-0 at their Westpac Stadium, but nevertheless, the visitors will fancy their chances of getting something out of this clash, having recorded wins over Melbourne City, Central Coast Mariners and Western Sydney Wanderers in recent weeks.
The Phoenix’s form on the road has also been fairly steady as the visitors have lost just once in their last six matches which was the aforementioned loss at Perth Glory, but wins at the two Sydney clubs, FC and Wanderers, along with points picked up on their travels at Melbourne Victory (in 1-1 and 3-3 draws) and Adelaide United, make them a strong proposition to get a result here.
Wellington’s away record reads 2-4-2 10/12 and they’ve certainly become a much harder team to beat on their travels under new manager Mark Rudan.
