This Saturday also brings us action from the top flight in the Premier League and my next pick features struggling Newcastle United taking on high-flying Bournemouth with further betting tips from St James’ Park.
Newcastle picked up a crucial first win of the season last weekend when they recorded a much needed 1-0 home win over Watford which has lifted them out of the relegation zone for the time being. Another positive for Rafa Benitez’s side was that they also picked up a second clean sheet on the trot following their dour 0-0 draw away at Southampton.
The Magpies will now look to register back-to-back home wins in the Premier League for the first time since April, but a home record which stands at 1-0-5 4/9 and already includes defeats to Tottenham, Chelsea, Arsenal, Leicester City and Brighton doesn’t fill me with much confidence.
On the subject of confidence, Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth side must be full to the brim right now as they occupy 6th place on the Premier League ladder and although they lost 2-1 at home to Manchester United last weekend, The Cherries will fancy their chances of taking something from Newcastle this Saturday.
The loss to United ended a four match unbeaten sequence for Bournemouth who had captured recent wins against Crystal Palace, Watford and Fulham, while away from home they possess a 3-0-2 9/7 record which includes winning their last two on the trot at the aforementioned Watford and Fulham.
The south coast side will also remind themselves that they registered a 1-0 win at St James’ Park in their last visit to Newcastle this time last year, and although striker King (4 goals) is ratyed as doubtful, the visitors still have the likes of Wilson (6 goals), energetic midfielder Fraser (3 goals, 5 assists) and Brooks to call upon going forward.
