Newcastle United Prediction

Newcastle United eventually did what was expected of them on the weekend when they recorded a 2-0 home win over bottom club Huddersfield Town but they had to be patient for the win, and the relief after the first goal was scored was on show for everyone to see.

Newcastle now sit in 15th place and two points adrift of tonight’s opponents, Burnley burt more importantly, The Magpies hold a useful four point cushion above third from bottom club Southampton prior to these midweek fixtures in the Premier League.

Recent form has improved for the hosts who have registered three wins from their last five matches overall in the top flight, which were wins against Cardiff City, Manchester City and the aforementioned victory against Huddersfield Town.

All three of these recent victories were record at St James’ Park where they hold a record of 5-1-8 14/18 and home form is considered to be Newcastle’s best chance of avoiding relegation from the top flight this season.

Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez will be keen for his side to not lose this one, and he generally sets his side up on the more defensive side of things, preferring to keep things tight and either hit on the counter or from a set-piece.

Key-Facts – Newcastle United v Burnley

  • Newcastle United have won their last 3 home matches on the trot
  • Burnley are unbeaten in their last 8 matches overall in the EPL
  • Burnley have won 5 of these last 8 matches

Burnley Prediction

Burnley extended their useful looking unbeaten run to eight matches in all competitions when they recorded a 2-1 home win over 3rd placed Tottenham in Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off, with Sean Dyche’s men now sitting in a more respectable looking 14th place on the Premier League ladder.

It was a horrific start to the new campaign for Burnley who were fighting on two fronts at the start of the season due to their involvement in the Europa League, with their poor form and results lasting up until Boxing Day with a 5-1 thrashing at home to Everton, but since then, The Clarets have turned things around in impressive fashion.

Burnley have won five of their last eight matches with wins against West Ham, Huddersfield Town, Fulham, Brighton and Tottenham whilst ensuring they continued picking up points in draws with Watford, Manchester United and Southampton.

An away record of 3-4-7 14/25 doesn’t appear to be too impressive, but the visitors bring a four-match unbeaten run into this clash in the north-east on Tuesday night, and will be hard to beat here I fancy.

Betting Tips Verdict

Newcastle United will firstly want to avoid defeat here as Benitez is expected to keep things tight, but Burnley are also in good form and they stand a good chance of walking away with at least a point here.
