Newcastle United Prediction

Newcastle United sit in 14th place and hold a six point cushion ahead of third from bottom club Cardiff City, but last weekend’s 2-0 defeat away at West Ham mean that The Magpies are still not yet out of the woods where possible relegation is concerned.

That defeat to West Ham ended a three match run without a loss as Rafa Benitez’s side had previously registered wins against Huddersfield Town and Burnley, both by 2-0 margins along with a point against Wolves in a 1-1 draw away at Molineux.

Newcastle United’s home form though has taken a decided turn for the better as the hosts have recorded four wins on the trot since the turn of the year with wins registered against Cardiff City, Manchester City, Huddersfield Town and Burnley, amidst a home record that stands at 6-1-8 16/18.

Newcastle will therefore be hoping that their form at St James’ Park can keep them at arms length from the relegation battle that’s being fought below them, when they seek to rack up a fifth straight win against Everton here.

Key-Facts – Newcastle United v Everton

  • Newcastle United have won their last 4 home matches on the trot
  • Everton have won just 3 of their last 10 away matches
  • 4 of the last 5 meetings between these two teams have seen under 2.5 goals

Everton Prediction

Onto Everton, and the visitors seem to have bounced back from their recent disappointing run of three league defeats on the trot when they suffered defeats to Wolves, Manchester City and Watford, by recording a 3-0 win away at relegation threatened Cardiff City as well as a point against their merseyside rivals, Liverpool, in last week’s 0-0 draw at Goodison Park in the local derby.

The result against Liverpool showed that Everton can still get results against the top teams in the division, and became Everton’s second clean sheet on the trot as they prepare for their trip to Newcastle United this Saturday.

Overall though, Everton’s results this season have been far too inconsistent and the anticipation that manager Marco Silva would bring success and stylish football back to Goodison Park (which is why they sacked former manager Sam Allardyce, right?), hasn’t actually materialised and the Toffees are actually now worse off as they sit in 10th place (compared to last season’s 8th place finish under Allardyce).

Everton are six points adrift of this season’s current 8th placed team, Watford, and they possess another ordinary looking away record of 4-3-7 18/18 under Silva, with the visitors winning just three of their last 10 away matches.

Betting Tips Verdict

Newcastle United will be keen to record a fifth straight home win here but Everton also need to pick up points on the road too. This could be a tight, cagey affair which produces very few goals.
