Football – England – Premier League Betting Tips

The early kick-off at lunchtime on Saturday marks the start of this weekend’s opening fixtures of the new Premier League season with Newcastle United playing host to Tottenham with further betting tips here.

Newcastle United made a few important signings towards the end of the summer transfer window with the likes of defenders, Fernandez and Lejeune, joining The Magpies but both have been ruled out to play in this home opener at St James’ Park today.

Other new signings, defender Schar and striker Rondon look set to make their debuts for the hosts, the latter being part of a swap deal with Championship side, West Brom with Dwight Gayle moving to the west midlands club.

Newcastle United finished last season in a creditable 10th place which was particularly impressive given the lack of transfer funds that were available to manager, Rafa Benitez throughout the campaign. The Magpies will be wanting to improve upon a home record which ended up on a very inconsistent looking  8-4-7  21/17 this time around, although a last day 3-0 home win over Chelsea halted a four-match losing streak overall.

If the rumours are to be believed, Tottenham manager, Mauricio Pochettino, could be without up to 16 players for this opening clash up in the north-east at Newcastle United.

Wanyama, Sissoko and Winks are all set to miss this opening fixture, while the Belgian and English World Cup contingent are rated between doubtful and a place on the bench with the likes of Kane, Vertonghen and Trippier not expected to make the starting line-up.

But although Pochettino didn’t add to his 25-man squad over the summer, much to the consternation of Spurs fans, he still has strikers Son and Llorente to choose from as well as a defensive midfield likely to consist of Dier and Dembele.

A lack of funds due to the considerable cost of Tottenham’s new stadium, believed to be costing the north London club in excess of 500million pounds is the major reason behind a lack of transfer activity, but let’s not forget that Spurs also possess the creative and influential playmaker, Cristian Eriksen too.

Had the green light been given for Kane to start from the off, I’d have gone with a straight win for Tottenham, but instead my betting tips suggest giving the quarter-ball on Spurs instead.
