There are certainly a lot tougher draws that the Magpies could have landed, an upset doesn’t look too likely.

There is an interesting spin here, however. The last meeting between the two clubs happened in January 2017 in the fourth round of the FA Cup. Newcastle were out on the road on those occasions and they got things horribly wrong, suffering a 3-0 loss against the U’s. The overall head to head sees Newcastle down at W6 D5 L7. This will be just the second meeting between them in the FA Cup.

Oxford are on something of a promotion push in League One, sitting inside the play off places. Their form has deserted them a bit there recently, only going D2 L2 in their last four played. The U’s have only picked up four wins in their last twelve games across all competitions.
In this season’s FA Cup Crowd took an away win at Hayes in the first round proper before following that up with a win at Walsall. They did have that tremendous run in the EFL Cup this season.
