A potential giant-killing could be on the cards when League Two side Newport County take on Premier League outfit Leicester City as the betting tips continue at Rodney Parade.
Newport County Prediction
Although they sit mid-table in League Two, Newport County possess a very decent looking record at their Rodney Parade ground with league stats of 7-3-2 21/20, but their recent overall form has dipped significantly as the Welsh club are without a win from their last five matches.
Newport have suffered four defeats within this sequence with defeats to Swindon Town, Lincoln City, Forest Green Rovers and Stevenage although only the one of these four losses (v Forest Green) was on home turf.
Switch over to home form and you’ll find that The Exiles have lost just once in their last 11 matches in all competitions, and manager Michael Flynn is likely to field his strongest line-up against Leicester City on Sunday with forwards Amond (10 goals) and Matt (8 goals) expected to feature from the start as the hosts go in search of a cup upset.
Newport County have reached the 3rd round of the FA Cup thanks to wins over Metropolitan Police in the 1st round and a 2nd round replay win over National League high-fliers Wrexham.
Leicester City Prediction
Leicester City are on a hiding to nothing in this cup-tie as everyone expects the Premier League side to win this one comfortably and book their place into the next round, but the least they can do here is to avoid defeat.
Claude Puel’s side are in reasonable form at the moment having won three of their last four in the Premier League with impressive wins against Chelsea and Manchester City along with a win away at Everton last time out.
However, The Foxes were unable to keep their winning momentum going against strugglers Cardiff City which leads me to believe that the players perhaps subconsciously ‘switched off’ and maybe the same thing could happen here today.
Leicester striker Vardy is rated as doubtful for this clash so Iheanacho is in line to make a rare start for the visitors along with Albrighton and Gray flanking him on either side.
Betting Tips Verdict
Newport’s strong home form gives them a chance to make things difficult for Leicester, while the visitors shoiuld be able to hit the back of the net at least once against League Two opposition.
