The Swedish top flight season resumes after a break to allow for the World Cup in Russia, but hostilities re-commence on the domestic front with my next preview which features Norrkoping taking on Hacken at their Östgötaporten ground.
Third placed Norrkoping could move level on points with Allsvenskan league leaders, AIK Stockholm if they grab the spoils in Sunday afternoon’s clash, and with a promising home record which stands at 5-0-1 12/6 under their belts so far, the hosts look to be in good shape.
Norrkoping also come into this clash having put together a six-match unbeaten run which includes wins over Ostersunds, IFK Gothenborg, Dalkurd and GIF Sundsvall which has helped lift them up into one of the Europa League qualifying spots.
The hosts possess a trio of dangerous attacking personnel in the shape of Moberg-Karlsson (5 goals), Skrabb (4 goals) and Holmberg (4 goals).
Visitors Hacken recorded an important 3-0 win away from home at Liepaja during the week in the Europa League first qualifying round first leg in Latvia, and manager, Andreas Alm, may be tempted to rest a few players on Sunday afternoon as they look to ensure their passage through to the next round of the competition this week.
Even without the distractions of the Europa League, Hacken have struggled away from home so far in this Swedish top flight season as their away record of 1-1-4 4/8 indicates; in addition, the visitors have lost three of their last four on their travels with defeats at IFK Gothenborg, Malmo and Ostersunds.
Hacken have also failed to score in four of their six away matches to date, and their struggles in front of goal could well be punished at Norrkoping on Sunday.
