Norwich City Preview – Can Norwich build on opening win?
The 5-0 hammering that Norwich City received against Manchester City on the final day of last season became Norwich City’s 11th straight defeat in all competitions and brought an end to Norwich’s stay in the top flight, but seven matches later, The Canaries have hope again.
The hosts won four of their five pre-season friendlies and although they lost 3-1 away at Luton Town in the League Cup, they bounced back to record an opening day 1-0 win on the road at Huddersfield Town last weekend.
Norwich now return to Carrow Road (albiet without fans) for their first home match of this new Championship season against Preston North End whom they’ve lost just once at home to in their last seven meetings, while Norwich are also unbeaten in their last 10 matches at home in the second tier.
Preston NE Preview – Can Preston secure first league win of season?
Preston North End finished last season’s Championship campaign in 9th place and missed out on a place in the top six and the play-offs by a four-point margin, but if they’re to go a step better this season and secure a top six finish then Alex Neil’s side need to improve away from home.
At Deepdale, Preston registered the most number of home wins outside of the top four in last season’s Championship but it was their inconsistency on the road that cost the visitors as they managed to pick up just one away win out of their final seven matches of last term.
In addition, Preston failed to score in 10 of their 23 away matches last season and although they’ve recorded early success in this season’s League Cup, knocking out Mansfield Town and Derby County, the visitors suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to Swansea City in last weekend’s opening match of the season.
