Championship at Betfred

It’s the last game of this Saturday’s edition of the Championship but the best has been saved for last with Nottingham Forest taking on West Brom as the betting tips continue at the City Ground.

Nottingham Forest Prediction – Can Nottingham Forest finally click?

It was yet another season full of expectation, hope, frustration and ultimately despair for Nottingham Forest as they yet again missed out on the play-offs.

Former player and Forest legend, Martin O’Neill, took over the reigns at the City Ground when he replaced former coach Karanka, but both managers have since been and gone.

Nottingham Forest finished in 9th place and ended up 8 points shy of the play-off pack in what was another inconsistent season by the Tricky Trees.

Overall form on home turf at their City Ground was reasonable enough as they ended up with a record of 13-4-6 34/21.

The hosts finished their season winning 3 of their last 4 matches at home with wins over Swansea City, Middlesbrough and Bolton Wanderers.

French manager, Sabri Lamouchi has been brought in where he’ll be expected to bring together a large and talented squad to gel and produce results on a consistent basis.

The signing of former Aston Villa midfielder, Albert Adomah, should further bolster a quality midfield that includes Carvalho, Guedhioura and Cash.

Lamouchi and Forest will be hoping that the forward line consisting of Grabban, Lolley and Murphy can all fire on a regular basis.

West Brom Prediction – Can West Brom go a step better?

Football can be a very harsh industry to be part of and former West Brom manager, Darren Moore can probably testify to this.

A sequence of 3 matches without a win from end of February to mid-March ultimately cost Moore his job at The Hawthorns.

Back-to-back defeats to promotion rivals, Sheffield United and Leeds United respectively, along with being held to a 1-1 draw at home by rock-bottom Ipswich Town was too much for the board.

Second team coach James Shan took over and guided The Baggies to the play-offs but they were found out by west midlands rivals, Aston Villa in the semi-finals.

Former West Ham manager, Slaven Bilic has been appointed for this new term and his primary objective must surely be to make West Brom a competitive outfit away from home as they ended their season on the road in shambolic fashion.

The Baggies registered just 1 win from their last 7 matches on their travels, which was a 1-0 win away at Brentford, but 5 defeats within this 7-match sequence was appalling.

Bilic has another problem up front – the loan deals of forwards Dwight Gayle and Harvey Barnes have expired and Jay Rodriguez has moved to Premier League Burnley.

That trio scored a total of 54 goals for West Brom last season, and have left a big hole in attack.

Key-Facts – Nottingham Forest v West Brom

  • Nottingham Forest won 3 of their last 4 matches at home last season
  • West Brom won just 1 of their last 7 away matches of last season
  • The last two meetings between these two teams have seen both teams score

Betting Tips Verdict

Both Nottingham Forest and West Brom have been too inconsistent and are both capable of scoring and conceding here.
