Notts County earned a good point in their 2-2 draw away at sixth placed Lincoln City last Saturday, and they’ll now return to Meadow Lane for this Saturday’s clash with fifth placed Exeter City in reasonably confident mood.
Notts County have suffered just one defeat from their last 13 matches overall, which was a 1-0 loss at Swindon Town, but Kevin Nolan’s boys still remain unbeaten on home turf this season with an impressive home record under their belts that stands at 9-4-0 26/10.
In addition, The Magpies have kept six clean sheets at home to date, and with the likes of Alessandra (6 goals), Stead (5 goals) and Forte and Ameobi (4 goals apiece) up his sleeve, Nolan will be looking for all three points here.
Exeter City registered a fifth home win on the trot in League Two with a 1-0 home win over giant-killers, Coventry City, last Saturday at St James’ Park, but they face a difficult trip to second placed Notts County who have yet to lose on home soil this weekend.
Along with League Two leaders, Luton Town, Exeter City have recorded the most home wins so far in this campaign with 10 victories to their name, but an ordinary looking away record of 4-3-6 16/21 hides a deeper problem for The Grecians.
The visitors have lost their last five matches on the trot on the road with defeats at Chesterfield, Crawley Town, Colchester United, Yeovil Town and Newport County, and indeed are without an away win in seven trips.
The momentum is firmly with the hosts and I expect a Notts County win here.
