National League at Marathonbet

There’s a full slate of fixtures in the National League on Tuesday night and our next preview features a clash between two County’s – Notts and Stockport, as the betting tips continue at Meadow Lane.

Notts County Prediction – Can Notts County bounce back?

Last season was a disastrous campaign for Notts County as they were not only relegated from League Two but also lost their tag of oldest professional football club.

Gross mismanagement of the club has cost Notts County its Football League status, and it’s hard to believe that not long ago they were in the League Two play-offs.

A 5-2 aggregate loss to Coventry City at the end of the season before last was the start of Notts County’s problems, not that they knew that then.

A poor start to the following season saw The Magpies sack former boss Kevin Nolan, followed by a brief spell by former Crawley Town boss, Harry Kewell.

Kewell’s appointment was rash and backfired spectacularly with present boss, Neil Ardley, now desperately trying to pick up the pieces.

A 1-0 defeat away at Eastleigh will have shown Ardley and his squad the size of the job in hand as they seek a swift return to the Football League.

The Magpies return to Meadow Lane for this clash with Stockport in reasonably confident mood though having lost just 1 of their last 5 matches in all competitions.

Ardley still has the likes of forward quartet Boldewijn, Hemmings, Tyson and Dennis at his disposal and these personnel should score a few at this level.

Stockport County Prediction – Can Stockport County consolidate?

It was a triumphant and long-awaited return back to the National League for Stockport County following last season’s promotion.

The visitors achieved their goal of rising back through the non-league pyramid after securing automatic promotion from the National League North.

County narrowly pipped runners-up, Chorley, to spot to return to the National League, but they too suffered defeat on opening day on the weekend.

A 1-0 loss at home at their Edgeley Park to Maidenhead United would also have been a wake-up call for manager and former player, Jim Gannon and his boys.

Gannon, an absolute club legend and fantastic servant of the club deserves further success at Stockport, but they need to pick up points on the road too.

Having won 4 of their last 5 away matches in all competitions recently though, Stockport might feel they can get something at Meadow Lane on Tuesday night.

It’s going to be a season of consolidation though for Stockport this term as they look to continue their stability this time around in the National League.

Last time in this league, Stockport won just 2 of their last 11 away matches.
