Nurnberg Preview – Can Nurnberg make it three straight wins at home?

It’s been a real struggle for Nurnberg at home this season with just three wins from 12 league games. It’s the key reason as to why the club are still one of a number of teams who are worried about their status in the German second division. Jens Keller’s men are currently 13th and only five points above the relegation playoff position.
Keller – who only took charge of the team in November – has definitely made a positive impression and Nurnberg are now looking to make it three straight home wins. If they can manage that it would give them confidence of being able to preserve their status in this division for another season and look ahead to a more positive campaign next time around.

Hannover 96 Preview – Can Hannover ease any lingering relegation fears by taking three points here?

Last weekend’s win against Holstein Kiel was Hannover’s first home victory in five matches and – just like their opponents tomorrow – only their third home success this season. Another thing they have in common with Nurnberg is the fact that they brought a new coach in, in November with Kenan Kocak taking the reigns. It’s not been as significant an impact just yet, however.

There was a lot of expectations surrounding Hannover coming into this campaign and it’s not anything they have been able to live up to. The fact that they too are only five points above the relegation playoff in indicative of that.

Interestingly, despite their struggles, Hannover have the third highest number of away wins in the 2. Bundesliga with five. Only leaders Arminia Bielefeld and Holsten Kiel have accumulated more victories on their travels. That will be the most frustrating thing for all concerned and there will be a feeling of what could have been had they found more consistency at home.

There’s a real efficiency at how Hannover approach their away matches with 16 goals scored in 12 games. It’s not prolific by any standard but it’s an style which clearly works for them.
