Odense and Randers have made solid if not spectacular starts to their league campaigns and both will be looking for three points when they meet each other on Friday.

OB Odense Preview – Can Odense follow up last week’s win over Esbjerg with another three points?

Odense come into Friday’s game having won two and lost two of their opening games in the 2019/20 Supreliga season. Their opening game of the campaign was at home to champions FC Copenhagen – a game they lost out by the odd goal in five. Ordinarily a defeat to the best team in the league would not be overly disappointing, however Odense had taken a two goals lead in that game. Coach Jakob Michelsen would have expected his team to be able to hold on to that lead, especially at home. Their first win of the season came in their next game in an authoritative 4-1 success at home to Lyngby. Next up were two consecutive away games, first against Brondby where they again lost in dramatic fashion, going down in another 3-2 thriller. Again, it was another occasion where OB held the lead heading into the closing stages.

To their credit, they bounced back in the following game when grabbing their first away win on the road. A much less entertaining but nevertheless important 1-0 win away to Esbjerg was their first clean sheet of the season thus far. You can be sure that the coach would take a similar victory tomorrow as his team look to win back-t0-back games for the first time this season.

Randers Preview – Will Randers build on their first victory of the season last week and get another good result?

Randers came very close to qualifying for the Europa League last season through the playoffs, only to fall at the last hurdle. The aim this time around will to attempt to go one better. Their start to the season will offer some hope that’s possible, too. Having lost on the opening day of the season away to SonderjyskE, Randers have responded pretty well and are unbeaten a since. A home draw with Brondby – who conquered them in that playoff final in May – was followed up with another share of the points away to Hobro. Both of those matches ended in 2-2 draws – highlighting their ability to score goals but also a tendency to concede. There was further evidence of that last time out when gaining their first win of the campaign. A 3-1 win at home to Nordsjaelland ensures they have taken five points from their first four games and been competitive in each of them.

The impressive Austrian forward Marvin Egho has again shown his scoring credentials even this early in the season. Having scored eight in his debut season at the club, he’s already on course to better that. Three strikes in his first four games will ensure he’s full of confidence going into tomorrow’s game.

Key-Facts – OB v Randers

  • OB have won two of their first four games this season but will feel they should have more than six points on board
  • Randers have recovered well from their opening day defeat and have taken five points from a possible nine since
  • Games involving Odense this season have produced 16 goals whilst games involving Randers have seen one less in total

OB Odense v Randers Betting Advice

As is often the case so early in the season, there is a massive cluster of teams separated by a couple of points. Odense and Randers are two teams very much in that pack. A win for the home team would see them create some distance whilst an away victory and Randers would leapfrog their opponents. It’s a fixture which history shows there is little between the two clubs. The pair exchanged 1-0 home wins in the previous campaign and it’s likely that this match will be equally as close.

What I do think will be different this time around is the number of goals they produce. Games involving OB have produced the most amount of goals of any team in the Superliga with 16 in total. Randers four games have produced just one less so it suggests we’ll see a few tomorrow. Over 2.5 goals looks the obvious bet in this one.
