Orlando City – Nani to star in fourth-straight triumph?

Following a slow start to the season, when winning one of their first four games, Orlando City have exploded into life with five wins in six, including the last three on the spin. The latest a first come-from-behind victory of the campaign when, after falling behind to a speculative Gonzalo Higuan long-range effort, another telling contribution from Nani helped settle the contest with Inter Miami in Fort Lauderdale.

Portuguese Nani – another former Manchester United starlet currently plying their trade in the States – had a hand in both goals last time. The 34-year-old, sporting a bold choice of hair style, commanded everyone’s attention with another Man of the Match showing. First laying on a classy assist before finding the top corner with a sumptuous strike from outside the 18-yard-box. His sixth goal of the season.

Only three players have scored more in MLS so far this term than Nani, who is looking to find the net for the third game running for the third time this season. Up the other end of the pitch, Orlando have conceded a league-best seven goals, which works out at a miserly 0.7 per game. All three victories here at Exploria Stadium, meanwhile, were, unsurprisingly, accompanied by a clean sheet – with Nani on target each time.

New York Red Bulls – Lousy away record implies uphill struggle in Orlando?

The Red Bulls unbeaten record versus 2019 US Open Cup winners Atlanta United remains untarnished. This after a largely uneventful contest at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta ended scoreless last weekend, extending NYRB’s record without ever losing to The Five Stripes during the MLS regular season to nine matches – whilst simultaneously halting their own four-match losing rut on the road.

Gerhard Struber, formerly of Barnsley, had overseen a 100% losing record away from home prior to claiming a hard-fought draw in Atlanta. Three of four said defeats were slender in margin (one goal), possibly suggesting that with a little more rub of the green results may have fallen their way. That said, with a nasty habit of conceding goals in threes on their travels, they can have few complaints so far.

Facing in-form opposition, whose record on home turf (W4 D1) is polar opposite, the Red Bulls are deemed significant underdogs for this. Yet, after a win and draw from their latest two outings, it is worth noting they have not gone more than two games without an MLS victory all season. Moreover, they remain the only side thus far to inflict defeat on Orlando City, who were without Nani for a 2-1 loss in May.

Orlando City Vs New York Red Bulls Betting Advice

On the back of three straight wins, and three in their last four as hosts, there is an expectancy Orlando City should make light work of a New York Red Bulls teams eight points worse off in the Eastern Conference standings. The latter also take a wretched record of four losses from five away outings (D1) to Exploria Stadium, where they went down 3-1 on their most recent visit there in October 2020.

Orlando City Vs New York Red Bulls – Key Facts:

  • New York Red Bulls produced something of a shock when upsetting Orlando City in New York back in May, winning 2-1 in what remains the latter’s sole loss of the season so far.
  • Orlando City are seeking a fourth consecutive win. They’ve also won three of five at home this season (D2), leading at half-time and with Nani on target in each home win so far.
  • Conversely, New York Red Bulls remain winless on their travels to date (D1 L4), conceding exactly three in all but one of four away defeats.

Confidence is evidently high among the Orlando City camp. All three home wins were to nil, leading at the break each time. Meanwhile, New York Red Bulls could consider themselves slightly fortunate to pick up their first away point of 2021 last time out in Atlanta, who rattled the woodwork in the dying embers of a goalless affair. With Nani & Co racking up five goals on their latest home outing, Orlando should prove too strong.
