The other fixture in Group J on match day five of the Europa League is a top of the table clash between surprise package, Ostersunds, and visitors Zorya with a valuable three points at stake for both teams.
This is Swedish outfit, Ostersunds’s, first foray into european competition and they’ve acquitted themselves very well under the guidance of former Stoke City defender, Graham Potter as they sit top of the group with just one defeat from their first four matches of this group phase.
It’s been a terrific journey so far for Ostersunds who have progressed through the qualifying rounds which include wins over Galatasaray and PAOK, while in the group, they’ve registered wins over Zorya (away) and Hertha Berlin along with a draw against Athletic Bilbao. Forward Ghoddos and midfielders Bertilsson and Nouri are the hosts best chances of scoring tonight.
Visitors Zorya sit in second place in Group J and one point behind leaders, Ostersunds, ahead of match day five, but their form during the group stage so far has been inconsistent; wins over Athletic Bilbao and Hertha Berlin have been offset by defeats to tonight’s opponents, Ostersunds, and Hertha Berlin.
But for their efforts so far in this season’s competition, Zorya have performed poorly away from home in the Europa League following six defeats from their last eight away matches, a sequence that also includes failing to score in four of these.
Zorya have also been a surprise package in this season’s competition, but of these two teams, I’ll back the more consistent Ostersunds with the handicap here.
