Oxford to keep play-off dreams alive with Port Vale win

League One/Two Tips

OXFORD UNITED v PORT VALE

Monday 17th April 2017 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Football – England – League One Betting Tips

Oxford United know they cannot afford another slip-up on Easter Monday when they take on relegation threatened Port Vale if they’re to grab what seems an unlikely play-off spot.

Recent defeats to Fleetwood Town and Bradford City along with just a point in a 1-1 draw away at Walsall have left The U’s a steep ask for a top seven finish as they now sit in 10th place and find themselves ten points adrift of Millwall who occupy the last remaining play-off spot.

Oxford hold home advantage though at their Kassam Stadium where they’ve recorded stats of  9-4-8  29/27 so far, but they’ll be banking upon Port Vale’s poor away record to see them through this afternoon as they reach the last chance saloon.

Onto visitors Port Vale and they sit in the bottom four in League One ahead of their trip to Oxford having registered just one win from their last six league matches, that being a 2-0 home win over mid-table AFC Wimbledon.

However, three straight defeats on the trot to Rochdale, bottom club Chesterfield and Sheffield United have plunged The Valiants back into the relegation mire, while their away record of  1-6-13  12/37 does little to inspire confidence in them getting a result here.

Along with Oldham Athletic, Port Vale possess the worst attacking record away from home in League One which also includes failing to score in 10 of their 20 away matches to date – that’s 50% of matches where they’ve failed to hit the back of the net.

I’ll back Oxford with the quarter-ball here to keep their slim play-off hopes alive.
