This is League One action for Tuesday night and features the struggling Oxford playing host to mid-table Crewe.

Oxford have dropped three of their opening four games and are under pressure to pull themselves out of the drop zone.

As for Crewe, they had a disappointing start to the campaign but have turned the tables with back to back successes.

Oxford Preview – Can the U’s pick up a much-needed win?

Oxford have gone W1 L3 for this campaign and will be looking for a very welcome three points on home turf on Tuesday.

The U’s are at 11/10 to earn the success* (odds taken 22:44 GMT, Monday 12th October).

This will be only their second home fixture of the campaign, so there is not too much to go on from that respect.

Oxford suffered a 2-0 loss against Sunderland in that one fixture, back in the middle of September.

So with three of their four games having been out on the road, that could account for a bit of a slow start that they have.

Each of the last three league games that Oxford have played in this season’s League One have all gone over 2.5 goals.

So that could be a trend with having a look at and it is an option at 8/11 to take for football betting* (odds taken 22:44 GMT, Monday 12th October).

Also, four of the last six meetings between Oxford and Crewe have ended having produced at least three goals.

This will be the first meeting between the two teams since League Two clashes in the 2011/12 season.

The U’s lost both of those.

However, Oxford have only lost one previous home game played against The Railwaymen, so they have that stay in their favour.

When last season was stopped early, Oxford were sitting inside the top four and had taken a superb W11 D3 L3 record on home soil.

Crewe Preview – Can The Railwaymen find some road form?

The season has been the opposite for Crewe to that of Oxford. The Railwaymen have played three of their four games on home turf.

Overall they are W2 L2 and both wins for them, in their last two games, happened at the Alexandra Stadium.

In their one away game played Crewe suffered a 1-0 loss out at the in-form Hull.

Interestingly, none of Crewe’s four league meetings this season have seen both teams score in a match.

The notable difference between the seasons that Crewe and Oxford have had, is in defence.

The Railwaymen have only conceded three goals in their four games played, while Oxford have shipped eight.

Crewe are at a quote of 12/5 to pick up the three points on Tuesday night* (odds taken 22:44 GMT, Monday 12th October).

Crewe were promoted from League Two last season, so they have done a good early job of holding their own in a higher tier.

For their trip to the Kassam Stadium on Tuesday, Crewe looks to be in good health, with no big injury issues.

After having eased some pressure of having gotten their first wins of the season on the board, they have every reason to be confident.

Oxford vs Crewe Betting Advice

Since September last year Oxford have only lost the two home games in league action. So that’s a pretty strong statistic we have to pay note to.

A loss against Sunderland in their one home game doesn’t spell a disaster for them, but the U’s definitely need some relief right now.

But we don’t see them taking all three points at the Kassam Stadium on Tuesday night. The draw has more appeal.

Key Facts – Oxford vs Crewe Betting Tip

  • Oxford are W1 L3 this season in League One
  • Oxford have lost just two league home games since September last year
  • Crewe have won their last two league games

The newly-promoted Crewe have only been tested once on the road and that was against top-three side Hull.

So that is a very excusable result for them.

So with The Railwaymen having gotten some wind in their sails with back to back home wins, we see them avoiding defeat.

Crewe have been a lot more efficient at the back than Oxford have.

It’s the draw for us and 1-1 correct score may be worth chancing at 6/1* (odds taken 22:44 GMT, Monday 12th October).
