It’s third versus second in the A-League on Sunday as Perth Glory host Melbourne City. Glory can go above their opponents in the table should they take all three points.

Erick Mombaerts is in his first season in charge of Melbourne and will be relatively happy with how his team are progressing. Champions Sydney are the unquestionable benchmark for any team in the A-League and the fact City are sitting behind them coming into the weekend is a big positive. They may be 10 points behind the leaders having played a couple of games extra, but it’s progress considering they finished in fifth place at the end of the previous regular season.
One area which Mombaerts will want to improve on is his team’s away form. City have won just three away games so far, in comparison to seven wins at home.

Just like their hosts on Sunday, Melbourne City have their own prolific striker and one who has played with the opposition earlier in his career. Jamie MacLaren is in his second season in Melbourne but he is making a more significant impact this campaign with 14 goals so far. Only Adam Le Fondre has scored more so far in the league.
MacClaren started his career at Perth Glory, spending two seasons there before moving on to Brisbane in advance of playing in Europe for a couple of seasons.

Key Facts – Perth Glory vs Melbourne City Betting Tip
- It’s now just one win in the last six across all competitions for Perth Glory
- Melbourne have won only three away games in the league all season, losing four
- The sides played out a goalless draw in their last meeting whilst Melbourne won 3-0 earlier in the season
This is an opportunity for Perth to get back to winning ways being at home. They’re unbeaten in their last five at home, taking 13 points in that spell. With Melbourne’s away form inspiring little confidence, I’m taking Perth to get all three points and move into second spot.
