This is the big match of the night in the Premier League of Darts as the action returns this week.

After the season was interrupted, the action is going to be coming thick and fast from Milton Keynes this week as the season catch-up is on.

Glen Durrant is heading the table after six rounds, but a win for Wright would put him level on points with the Englishman. This is a mouth-watering clash, who takes it?

Peter Wright Preview – Can Snakebite take down Durrant?

Reigning World and Masters champion Peter Wright is on a W3 D1 L2 record for the season in the Premier League of Darts.

He had a bit of a slow start to the campaign as well, but started to gather some good momentum just before the break.

Wright won three of his last four games, including the last two back to back against Nathan Aspinall and Michael Smith.

So you wonder if the break came just at the wrong time for him as he entered this tough game.

Wright leads the Premier League this season for the most 180’s, having posted 22 in his six fixtures.

But no player has scored fewer than the 70 100+ scores during the campaign than Wright.

Our betting prediction:
Both teams to score
12/1

His campaign at the recent World Matchplay didn’t go as well as expected as he lost in the round of sixteen, a long way short of what was expected.

Wright has never really been that consistent of a player in the Premier League of Darts, reaching the knockout stage only once from six previous efforts (a 2017 final).

But he has, by and large, been the main man of 2020 and Snakebite is the even money favourite to win this match which would leave him level on nine points with Durrant* (odds taken 19:23 GMT Sunday, 23rd August).

Glen Durrant Preview – Can Duzza hold position at the top?

Durrant is taking the Premier League by storm this season having picked up a league-best W4 D1 L1 record to sit top of the table.

Surprisingly he has only managed 6 180’s throughout his half a dozen games, the only player not to have made double figures.

But he has been finding ways to win games and a big strength of his has been taking legs against the throw.

Durrant has claimed a league-high of 15 of those during this campaign.

Plus, even though he hasn’t converted 180’s often, he is also the league leader for scores 140+ plus.

The only player to have gotten the better of Duzza during this Premier League campaign was Nathan Aspinall on Night 4.

Glen Durrant will have his Premier League credentials tested in these next two matches.

He will face Micahel van Gerwen the following night, but back to back wins for him would leave him sitting pretty.

We need a little Wright v Durrant head to head insight of course.

The most recent meeting between these two was in July when they met in the round of sixteen at the World Matchplay.

Durrant won that 11 – 8 in a superb fixture. Wright had won five on the bounce against him prior to that.

So it is a W3 L6 record overall that Durrant has against Snakebite.

Peter Wright vs Glen Durrant Betting Advice

So a tough match to call here, and we are going to side with Wright coming up with the wind.

Durrant had done very well in this campaign and battled well to toppled Wright at the World Matchplay.

However, we can’t ignore the fact that Wright has won five of the last six meetings between them.

Key Facts – Peter Wright vs Glen Durrant Betting Tip

  • Peter Wright has won five of the last six meetings
  • Peter Wright leads the overall head to head 6-3 over Durrant
  • Glen Durrant beat Wright at the recent World Matchplay

Wright was just coming back into form before the season was halted, so that was a positive upswing from him.

We expect this to be really tight with no quarter given, but the Wright 7-5 in the correct score market has some appeal at 11/2 to push on from the match outright* (odds taken 19:23 GMT Sunday, 23rd August).

Either way, this is probably going to eb the game of the night from Milton Keynes on Tuesday’s restart.
