Peterborough United take on Bristol Rovers as my betting tips continue in League One at London Road on Saturday afternoon with the hosts looking to improve upon what was a poor finish to last season.
Peterborough suffered five defeats from their last six matches in the run-in of the last campaign which ultimately saw their challenge for a play-off spot fall away in dramatic fashion. Defeats to Plymouth Argyle, Rochdale, Blackburn Rovers, Shrewsbury Town and Portsmouth ended any lingering hopes that Posh might have had for a top six finish.
The pressure will now be on manager, Steve Evans, who was brought in in February to steer Peterborough towards a possible play-off spot, but now he has a full season ahead of him, and he’s proved he’s capable of securing promotion with former clubs, Crawley Town and Rotherham United.
Striker Matt Godden (signed from Stevenage), has scored a total of 56 goals in his last three seasons with Stevenage and Ebbsfleet United.
Bristol Rovers finished last season in a comfortable mid-table position in League One, but this was largely down to their form at their Memorial Stadium where they registered 11 of their 16 wins overall.
Rovers ended their campaign with a decent looking home record of 11-6-6 38/30 but it was their results away from home which really prevented the west country outfit from climbing higher up the league table, with just 5 wins on the road all season.
They too ended last season with a run of matches without a win as a seven-match sequence overall saw the Pirates end the campaign without a win, drawing five of these. Away from home, it was five matches without a win to sign off on, which included defeats at Plymouth Argyle, Fleetwood Town and Rotherham United.
