Onto League One next, and Peterborough United will play host to recently relegated Rotherham United from the Championship at London Road, with the hosts having racked up back-to-back wins to start their new campaign off with a flying start.
Peterborough have sent a message of early intent to the rest of the division, having gained wins over Plymouth Argyle 2-1 at home and a 4-1 dismantling of Bristol Rovers away from home, and Grant McCann’s men will be aiming for a third league win on the trot here.
The Posh have lost just once at home from their last five which was to Fleetwood Town towards the end of last season, and they’re likely to once again have to do battle with Fleetwood this term if they’re to challenge for a play-off spot.
Visitors Rotherham United find themselves in the English third tier this term following a disastrous Championship campaign which looked doomed from the start with the curious decision to appoint Alan Stubbs as manager.
The writing was pretty much on the wall for the majority of the season, and it was probably a huge relief for all concerned when The Millers were finally resigned to the drop as they finished 19 points adrift of second from bottom Wigan Athletic, and a massive 28 points behind Nottingham Forest.
A 2-0 defeat at Fleetwood Town got Rotherham off to the worst possible start to their new League One season, but they did bounce back with an emphatic 5-0 win at home over Southend United last weekend.
I’ll back the home side though with the well priced draw no bet option as early momentum is on their side.
