Poland Prediction – Will Poland bounce back?

A 2-0 loss away from home at Slovenia became Poland’s first defeat in this Euro 2020 campaign in Group G but Monday night’s hosts still remain top of the group with a 3-point cushion ahead of 2nd placed Austria who will be Poland’s opponents on Monday night.

The defeat to Slovenia also saw Poland fail to score for the first time during these group matches, but with the hosts scoring in 4 of their first 5 matches to date, and on home soil for this clash we should see the hosts hit the back of the net with Lewandowski keen to add to his tally.

Poland had previously strung together a 4-match winning streak as they came out of the blocks in impressive fashion by recording wins against Austria 1-0 away, 2-0 at home against Latvia, 1-0 away at North Macedonia and a 4-0 thrashing of Israel on home turf.

The hosts are also unbeaten in their last 13 Euro qualifiers at home and have won their last 5 matches on the trot as they seek to bounce back with a win here in order to move a step closer to qualifying for Euro 2020.

Austria Prediction – Can Austria draw level with Poland?

While their Monday night’s hosts were losing away in Slovenia, Austria’s fortunes continued to rise as they secured all three points in a devastating 6-0 thrashing of Latvia at home over the weekend which saw the visitors lift themselves up into 2nd place and a point ahead of both Slovenia and Israel.

It’s getting mighty tight at the top of Group G with just 4 points separating the top four nations while 5th placed North Macedonia also can’t be completely ruled out as they’re just 3 points adrift of Slovenia and Israel but play a hapless Latvia outfit on Monday night’s other match.

Back to Austria, and it’s 3 wins on the trot for the visitors now as they’d earlier posted back-to-back wins over Slovenia 1-0 at home and a 4-1 thrashing of North Macedonia away from home, with the latter result being a real statement of intent to the rest of the group.

Results away from home in the Euro qualifiers have also been impressive for Austria as the visitors have chalked up 7 wins out of their last 9 matches on their travels with 6 of these 9 matches resulting in both teams scoring.

Former West Ham striker, Arnautovic has bagged 6 goals to date and is Austria’s main threat in front of goal.
