Porto Prediction

Porto’s recent overall form has been pretty steady as the hosts have suffered just one defeat out of their last nine matches in all competitions which was last week’s 1st leg defeat away to Liverpool at Anfield, but an extra-time win against Italian outfit Roma in the previous round of the Champions League along with Primeira Liga victories over Feirense, Maritimo, Sporting Braga, Boavista and Portimonense should give them encouragement ahead of Wednesday night’s encounter.

In the Champions League, Porto have lost just two of their previous 10 matches overall, which incidentally were both away from home at Roma and Liverpool respectively, while on home turf, the hosts have captured four wins on the trot with wins over Galatasaray, Lokomotiv Moscow, Schalke and Roma.

However, they now face a tall order of overcoming a two-goal deficit despite holding home advantage against an in-form and confident Liverpool outfit at their Estádio Do Dragão in this deciding leg.

History seems to be against the Portuguese outfit too as they’ve failed to beat Liverpool in their last three encounters at home, drawing 0-0, 1-1 and losing 5-0 respectively.

Key-Facts – Porto v Liverpool

  • Porto have won their last 4 home ties on the trot in the Champions League
  • Liverpool recorded a 3-1 win away at Bayern Munich last time out on the road
  • Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 3 visits to Porto

Liverpool Prediction

Liverpool know they just have to avoid defeat in this return leg in Portugal on Wednesday night following their triumphant 2-0 win at Anfield in last week’s 1st leg which also carried the added bonus of not conceding and allowing Porto a way back into the tie.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are enjoying a purple patch of form as The Reds have collected seven wins on the trot in all competitions which includes Premier League wins over Burnley, Fulham, Tottenham, Southampton and Chelsea, along with a Champions League victory against Bayern Munich.

However, that win away at Bayern Munich ended a miserable run of five defeats on the trot away from home in this competition as the merseysiders suffered defeats at Roma, Real Madrid, Napoli, Crvena Zvezda and PSG respectively.

Liverpool are safe in the knowledge though that they needn’t take any risks here as even a draw or a loss by a one-goal margin will be enough to see them through to the last four of the Champions League, and they’ll also remember their 5-0 demolition of Porto the last time they visited the Estádio Do Dragão.

Betting Tips Verdict

Porto have shown reasonable form at home in this competition but they’ll do well to beat an upbeat and confident Liverpool outfit here.
